Miscellaneous

I am back from the heart of the Russian Motherland – happy, and in one piece. Spending three weeks with the boys and my father was incredible. Only one problem: holidays don’t have cumulative effect and I am back to the daily routine, challenges, meetings, bills. Not exactly a lazy day in the country with a schedule full of fun things to do. Well, c’est la vie.

The fire problem in Moscow was very real but fortunately for us, disappeared a few days after our arrival.

The Moscow real estate market behaved much like it did in Toronto: it took a few months’ breather, waited to see how the economic and financial global crisis would play out, then forged full steam ahead. Their prices held up and are slowly moving up again. There is a lot of visible development going on in and around Moscow. But the city itself is absolutely crazy, crowded, congested, polluted and intense. There are constant traffic jams and getting around Moscow by car takes hours. It took us 2 hours to travel 6 km. As I always say, we are blessed to live in a world class city like ours.
